This style of sun has appeared in my life over and over.
For starters, it is one of the centerpieces of the Ecuadorian flag, which is my Mom's side of the family, a side of the family I rep proudly.

It also showed up on the inside of an old CD case full of old Latino music, a CD that I loved very much as a kid and would listen to often. That CD has been lost in time; I have no recollection of its name nor the artists/songs. Just the memories of the music.
Back in Michigan, we had this old outdoor clock tower in our backyard with a similar sun on it. I remember staring at it a lot, thinking about how unique the clock was. And really, still is. To this day, I've never seen anything like it in anyone else's yard.
I saw this sun a lot in my childhood, and my childhood was one of the best times of my life. And I am a pretty sentimental person.
So, this sun, to me, represents nostalgia, hope, and my Latino side of the family. It also reminds me of my life in its entirety, from when I was a kid playing imagination with friends in our yards, to now as an adult, where creativity and design are what I live for.
